  I strongly suggest you go to usa in F-2 if you want to stay in usa for a
long time. According the new immigration law, you can not change your visa
status in any countries EXCEPT in China if your present status is J-1(
postdoc.). And it is very difficult to waiver the responsibility of J-1( go
back china nad work at least two years) in recent years.
  However, you may change your visa status from F-2 to H-1 or others in USA.

  So please do not go to usa in J-1 or J-2 if you have other choices.
