I accepted the offer of Princeton after 4.15 but the day before yesterday
Columbia sent me an email to ask me whether I am willing to accept their
offer. Then I asked them about the 4.15 agreement. They replied as follows:

Dear Mr. ***,
     All is well, the Dean has approved your admission and the official
letter will go out to you, by Federal Express, today or tomorrow.  The
International Student Office will prepare your I-20 later this week and I
hope we can
persuade them also to send it Federal Express, so you have it before the end
of
April.  As for Princeton, they will of course be disappointed but they will
of course release you, it is not a legally binding commitment you have made
to
them.  We all know that students who tell us in April they are coming may not
sh
ow up in August, for a variety of reasons; admissions officers refer to this
as "summer melt"!
     You should plan to be in New York by the weekend of August 21-22,
because the graduate program will begin Monday, August 23.I look forward to
meeting you this fall.
