                  Make sure your essay answers the essay question.

                  针对问题言之有物。切忌离题万勿杂乱堆
                  砌。

                  Proofread carefully and repeatedly. Make sure there are
                  no misspelled words. Read to locate areas that are too
                  vague and require more explanation. Make sure someone
                  who has never met you or been to Taiwan before would
                  understand your essay.

                  千万避免错字最好利用电脑附属的拼字检查工
                  具（spell check）。

                  Pay attention to essay page limits. Do not go too far over
                  or under the limit.

                  尽量遵守所规定的长度限制。

                  If you are sending the same essay to more than one
                  school, check that the school's name is correct throughout
                  the essay (for example, do not send an essay describing
                  how much you like Harvard to Yale).

                  同一篇读书计划在送交不同学校时注意不可弄
                  混。

                  Remove references to your parents or siblings in your
                  essay unless they are directly relevant to study abroad.

                  避免在此提家庭状况也别说些和申请念研究所
                  不相关的事情或成就。

                  Remove references to academic experiences or
                  achievements that occurred before college, including
                  JCEE (Joint College Entrance Exam，联考) test scores.
                  Focus on college and graduate school achievements.

                  不需要提联考的成绩单或高中时的丰功伟业，将
                  重心摆在大学（或研究所）时的成就。

                  Do not write that you want to go to America to "learn
                  more about American culture" unless can support the
                  statement by mentioning particular interests.

                  切记! 别再说什麽"向往学习美国文化"这一类空泛
                  的废话。也最好不要乱拍学校的马屁你想如
                  果每一封来函都写这麽多屁话 审核申请书的人
                  得平白浪费多少生命哪!

                  Remove empty and forgettable praises of the school to
                  which you are applying. You should not write statements
                  that could be written about any school, such as "your
                  school enjoys an excellent reputation in the field" or "I am
                  impressed by your faculty and curriculum." Instead,
                  highlight a school's specific strengths, such as specific
                  courses, programs, or professors.

                  若对该校的某项课程、系所或某位教授曾有过较
                  详细的研究及认识 那麽可以表达一点心向往之
                  的感受。记得写出真凭实据。

                  Replace any unsupported or overly vague statements with
                  specific examples and evidence proving that you are a
                  strong candidate for graduate school.

                  强调并努力证明自己是最符合申请条件的申请
                  者。

                  Do not write sentences like "I have wanted to be an X
                  ever since I was a small child," or "I have always wanted
                  to be an X."

                  不要说什麽"我自小即立志要做 XX" 的傻话。要举
                  出实证。

                  Make copies of your essays and all application forms
                  before mailing them.

                  最後寄送各学校的读书计划及申请书一定要
                  留　本。
