General Selection Criteria

The A/P Scholars Committee will judge the merit of the candidates not
only on the basis of their scholarly qualifications and future potential
but also on their interest in and commitment to learning about the
underlying dynamics of change in the Asia Pacific region. That is, the
A/P Scholars Program is intended to help forge an "Asia-Pacific mindedness"
among its fellows, preparing them culturally, intellectually, and
personally for the emerging community of Asia/Pacific nations. This
means that fellows will be required to participate in program activities
beyond the already demanding curriculum requirement of their majors.
