                              Job Opportunity in LIPIDAT Group

A position is available immediately for work on an Internet-accessible relational database of lipid phase
transitions (LIPIDAT) and miscibility (LIPIDAG). Currently, a complete understanding of vital
membrane-related and other physiological processes is limited by our knowledge of the mesophase
preference, miscibility and stability of lipids and how these fundamental properties are influenced by lipid
molecular structure, by composition (lipid, water, ionic, protein, etc.), and by temperature. This is precisely the
information that is brought together for convenient accessing and analysis in the LIPIDAT and LIPIDAG
databases.

The project for which a researcher is sought has three broad objectives:

The first is to continue to develop and maintain the hardware and software needed to support an on-line
relational database of thermodynamic data and associated information on lipid mesomorphic transitions and
miscibility that is accessible over the Internet via the World Wide Web. The database (LIPIDAT) was released in
August 1997. The database itself and a description of its current features can be accessed at
