We are studying the molecular mechanism of cadiovascular development as well
as the molecular basis of congenital and acquired heart diseases. One major
project is to understand the genetic regulatory network underlying gene
activation of vascular system. Another newly-initiated direction is tapping
the angiogenesis which is critical for tumor metastasis and arthritis,
emphasizing on how MATRIX METALLOPROTEINASES and their inhibitors are
functioned during these processes.
Our strategies involve over-expression of dominant-negative mutants and
knockout, using mouse, chick and Xenopus as models. Our groups are supported
by National Institutes of Health (NIH), American Heart Association and
Arthritis Foundation.
We are searching for highly SELF-MOTIVATED and HARD-WORKING individuals with
strong backgrounds in molecular biology or embryology. For more information,
please check the web site at: http://cmmg.biosci.wayne.edu/lili/lili-home.html
