Here is an alphabetical list of the 136 universities receiving ratings
in at least 10 of the 41 areas in the NRC report together with the
number of rated areas in each of the five classifications in the
report (Arts & Humanities, Biological Sciences, Engineering, Physical
Sciences & Mathematics, and Social & Behavioral Sciences) and the
average rating (according to the 1 to 9 scale I used in my original
summary) of the rated areas (a zero is assigned if a university is not
rated in at least half of the areas in a classification), and the rank
in each classification of the institution among those rated in at
least half of the areas in a classification. For example, the list
shows that Texas A&M's is rated in only one area in arts & humanities,
while its ranks in the other four areas are 68 (biological), 28
(engineering), 40 (physical & math), and 67 (social & behavioral),
while UT's ranks are 17, 25, 12, 12, and 19, and Stanford's 7, 1, 3,
8, and 4.
