Until 11:00 AM, Nov.12, 3 gilrs got approved and 1 failed. Their I-20s appeared to be: 8b-7a=13,000,
12,000, 14,000. They did not go into the office behind the gate and a gold haired man approved them, the
one who rejected me in Sept. I did not wait until the last one finished as they were too many people today
and all second-time ( or third, fourth-time )applicants were asked to go back and come tomorrow. About
ten F-2s were waiting and most of them are the first-time applicants. They all have full covers on their
I-20s. The queue went very slow today. I did not see the results of other F-2s and went back to the office.
Hi, everyone,

My wife called me yesterday and told me something about the
situation in Beijing. A consular officer is placed at the
main entrance of the consulate department to preview the
I-20 form. If the fund from school minus the tuition(i.e.
the net stipend) is above $15,000, the officer will grant
the F-2 application immediately. If this amount is a little
less than $15,000(for example $14,000 or 13,000) the
officer will let the applicant enter to receive further
review. If the amount is far from $15,000 or the fund from
school is less than the tuition, the officer will reject
the application and the applicant even has no opportunity
to enter the embassy. It is said that the daily total
applicants are around 300(the number of F-2 applicants is
not clear), and the successful F-2 applicants are about 7
to 8 (including the visiting parents)in best situation, and
it also happened that none of the F-2 applicants was
granted the visa in certain day.
from www.insidetheweb.com/messageboard/mbc.cgi/mb19975

I was rejected the second time on Nov.17. One gril succeeded, with 8b-7a=1,6000.
According to those F2s who were waiting outside that two male applicants passed
with 8b-7a=13,000, but I did not see them. I met a girl who failed last Friday,
Nov.14. Her 8b-7a=13,900. She said the consular just took 30 second to look at
her I-20 and then decided to stamp her a rejection.

The first time applicants were not so much yesterday so about 80 second time
applicants were allowed to apply. Most were requested to go into the room which
is behind the gate for interview. Three consular in that room yesterday. One
huang mao and one Asian man and a female Taiwaness. I was fully aware that the
two Asian are very strict and they seldom approve F2s. But I had not choice as
my passort was collected as soon as I entered that room. The three took passort
one by one and you could not tell whom you would meet. I was so unfortunate
yesterday -- I met the Taiwaness at last!!! She glanced the meno which shows
that my husband is receiving $15,000 each year and our bank statement of
$12,000. She asked me two questions:
When did your husban leave for US?
How much do you earn each month?
I said: " RMB4000. I work in Motorola. Suddenly I had a feeling that she was
going to refuse me. I was right --- when she asked your salary, it means that
you will not be approved. Then she began to write something on my application
form and told me: Sorry, your husband's fiancial situation is still not good
enough. I did not explain anything to her for I know it is useless. She is a
DEVIL. I will give up next time as soon as I know she's there. Here I remind
every applicant: Try to avoid Asians. They are the devil.

I was refused on 17 Nov.by the nicest consul with 8b-7a=13000.00 and some
personal fund. I did not imform this bad news to my husband till 21 Nov for
I myself was so upset and got no way to deal with this situation. I don't
want to drive the peregrine to despair.

Actually, I believe, the decision of most married F1 to study abroad is based
on the impression year by year that it is definitely convinent for the spouse
to get a F2 visa to take care of her/his genius. Those who can get the
finacial support from the universities through tough competition are
real geniuses, and it seems that the consuls know that very well. Had those
geniuses known the situation nowadays, most, at least some F1 would
have stayed where they were.

I don't think there's much business with the consul's mood. There should be
some reasons there and different rumors are raising. Is there anyone who
can share the real reason with us why the situation suddenly changed?

As I know, most refused F2 are so sad and cry a lot. Me too in the first
three days after I failed. Of cource, I feel much better now, as I have
realized that the world is full of miseries and what we are meeting is a
really tiny one. However, some F2s have lost their jobs when they applied
the passports. You can imange their hard condition.

What I hope most is that my husband does not feel too regret and I myself can
live a normal life. Surely it's hard for us to achieve that realm as couple
sepreted is absulutely in an abnormal condition. But tears and remorse are
useless, and these can hurt ourselves more.

Take care , F1 &F2
Please don't worry about the f-2. I am sure chinese is clever eneough to
achieve her purpose.
My wife tred f-2 for 4 times. I don't know whether she is the poorest woman.
But we never gave up. And thing will find its way. Last monday when I called
back, I was surprised that she had alreaky gone to chengdu. It is said that th
the ugliest old woman in chengdu ambassor was ill.( Maybe that is because
she had done so much bad things before) And the man who take the place for
her is a kind person. Two days later,She got the visa successfully.
I know that at the same day, some poor woman were refused also, and the
same thing happens everyday in other ambassor. But please don't give up.
You will never succeed if you don't try.
I don't believe that offiser in ISSOs are discussing the f-2 not turing
back. The reason that f-2 not turing back is that the f-1 is not willing
to go home. It is none of the bussiness with f-2.
good luck to all f-2 applier
I know this feeling, my wife was just refused last Monday.
I was really very very sad those days.

She got her visa last Thuresday, with some certificate
from her corp., a very famous US corp.. We think the key
problem is to convince those fools your personal fund is
YOURS, and be confident, a person who can make $8000-10000
in China should be very proud, you should say "Your reasoning
is not correct, let me explain for you" instead of "May I explain.".

Many of us are so humble to those fools and make them feel
so good as if they can change our fate. Fxxx those officers.
